Twitter On Blog

Twitter Money

This is a complete serious question, and when you answer, please say if you are a parent or a teen.

I am a teen, and like most teens I have a myspace that I made years ago. After about a year of having it, my mother made one so she could check up on me. I am now almost 17 years old, and she quotes things I have on my myspace or asks about the people that comment me. I can’t say what I want on there because she’ll read it, and question me about it. I decided to make a facebook a few months ago. She made one, and friend requested me. I ignored her, and she just told me that if I don’t accept her, she’ll block facebook. I have exactly 34 friends on facebook. I don’t see why she needs to check up on every webpage I’m on. I am a very good kid, I hang around a good crowd, get good grades, i’m not rebellious, etc.

Do you think it’s okay that she’s checking my myspace and facebook all the time or do you think I need my privacy? Oh, and how can I convince her to lay off my myspace and that I don’t need to accept her on facebook?

**Bonus that you don’t have to read:
Because I never have privacy on the internet, I have made a youtube, twitter, blog, tumblr and deviantart all that she doesn’t know about because I desperately want my privacy with something.

yeah my friend had that happen to her so she accepeted her parent & made another account & only uses the second one

Are there any Twitter applications that will automatically send a message when someone follows me? And, an app that will automatically follow someone when they start following me, and vice versa? And, is there a Twitter app that will let me know if people click on the links that I post?

Also, let me know of any other useful Twitter apps that you have come across.

Hi Kosmos,

I personally use socialtoo.com to automatically use twitter. It allows you to unfollow automatically when someone unfollows you. It sends you a daily email of all your stats inc followers/unfollowers etc. It also give you the option to send an automatic direct message wehn someone follows you. You can also pay $5 dollars to them and you can automatically follow people that follow you i dont recommend this as there are lots of spammers on there & you want to keep track of who you are following so that you dont get a bad repuation.

Follow me twitter.com/dsmpublishing and you can see the automatic message i use.

Ive been on twitter for a month with 5000+ followers and this has worked really well for me.

I hope that helps if you need any further help please let me know.

ok, so i was skimming through my contact’s tweets on twitter, and i saw that twitter and facebook were under DOS attacks oor denial of sercvice attacks. i might have been on facebook when something was wrong, because around i think noon or 1 p.m. est i was trying to play farm town on facebook and internet explorer kept telling me it was unavailable, but then it started working again. i just assumed that it was farm town’s crappy server and thought nothing of it until i saw facebook’s tweet, here is what it said:

"We had network issues today related to a denial-of-service attack. Service now is restored for most people and we’re investigating further."

and heres what twitter had to say about being attacked by a DOS attack.
http://blog.twitter.com/2009/08/denial-of-service-attack.html

also, if you dont know what a denial of service attack is, go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack

so basically what i wanted to know am i am at risk for my accounts being hacked or anything? or am i safe?

thanks!

The attacks were against their web sites. You are safe.

Anyone have A Step By Step approach ?
WHAT TWITTER/ FACEBOOK DEVELOPERS DO YOU FIND INTERESTING ??

The best approach when you’re trying to make money with social networks is by being a real person. A lot of people get the idea in their heads that they’re going to get a bunch of friends, or a bunch of followers, blast out some links, and make a ton of money. That doesn’t usually work.

I’ve made money on Twitter in 2 ways — by the link that’s on the side of my profile (under my name) — it was just a link to one of my websites — a few of my followers clicked on it, and subsequently bought from me — I made money.

Also, I sent out ‘tweets’ that were essentially monetized — it’s important that whatever you’re promoting is relevant to your social persona, though — making money with social networks has more to do with credibility than with number of followers.

I’ve never made money with Facebook, but I’m going to start playing around with it. This facebook application:

http://apps.facebook.com/referquest/

is something that I’m going to try out, basically, you get paid if you help somebody find what they’re looking for — kind of a finder’s fee of sorts. It probably won’t be consistent cash, but every little bit helps.

There are sites that’ll pay you to send out ‘tweets’ via Twitter, and I’m sure that there are sites that will pay you to post a message via Facebook, but for the pennies (literally) that you’ll receive for these gimmicks, it’ll hurt your credibility more than it’ll help your financial bottom line.

If you want to make money via social networks like Twitter and Facebook, you should work on building relationships first. Then, slowly work in links to websites where you might be able to earn money for visits, referrals, or sales. However, don’t push it, and don’t turn your social networking account into a billboard, ever — I think that’ll just work against you.

Good luck.
